It’s the most important furniture fair of the year. More than 2,000 exhibitors – the world’s biggest names, as well as 650 up-and-coming young designers – launch their latest products at the Rho Fairgrounds, making it the destination to discover what’s new and what’s trending. Not just furniture, Salone del Mobile Milano also showcases a broad range of furnishing accessories, lighting and workspace products.

Here’s what’s on offer at Salone del Mobile Milano 2017, opening April 4:

The main event
A global platform for the newest in furniture design, Salone Internazionale del Mobile is the benchmark exhibition of the show. More than 1,000 exhibitors are spread across the 140,000-square-metre show floor, which is devised as three sections: Classic, Design and xLux. The latter, focused on contemporary luxury products, was a new addition to the show in 2016. Classic, with an innovative format under the new name of Classic: Tradition in the future is comprised of more traditional aesthetics, while Design has an emphasis on innovation and product research.

The show never fails to attract star power: expect to see design heavyweights Jaime Hayon, Tom Dixon and Nika Zupanc, amongst countless others.

Euroluce
The biennial lighting expo returns for Salone del Mobile Milano 2017, filling 38,000 square metres with the latest in indoor, outdoor, industrial and commercial lighting innovations. More than 450 exhibitors, with at least half hailing from outside of Italy, will be attending. Look forward to launches from Foscarini, Fabbian, Artemide and more.

Workplace3.0
Running concurrently to Euroluce is Workplace3.0, a refreshed concept for the fair’s workspace biennial. This exhibition explores new ways of working, and how workplace design can support these shifts. More than 100 manufacturers, including Caimi Brevetti, Fantoni, Laminam and Unifor will launch their new contract offerings.

An exhibit produced by designer Cristiana Cutrona will also be on view. A Joyful Sense at Work explores the new theories of workplace design and planning through four installations, each designed by a different international architect.

International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition
Textiles, clocks, mirrors, home wellness equipment and accessories, leather and coverings for furnishings, and other design objects abound at the show’s annual accessories fair. New products from about 200 manufacturers, like CC Tapis, Molteni Home and Kvadrat, will be on display. Watch for collaborations with leading international designers.

SaloneSatellite
Since 1998, this exhibition has focused on prototype works by emerging designers under 35. Close to 10,000 designers and 270 design schools have participated in the event, and many of the prototypes shown have gone into production with notable manufacturers.

This year, an anthology of memorable pieces shown at past editions of SaloneSatellite will be presented at Fabbrica del Vapore, in celebration of the exhibition’s 20th anniversary.
