AZURE Talks: Eric Bunge at ARCHITECT@WORK in Toronto
The only North American instalment of ARCHITECT@WORK, an international convention being held for the third year in Toronto in April. Tickets for this AZURE Talks event are free. Register on the ARCHITECT@WORK website using code AZ1700.

Described by World Architecture News as “part of a select group crowned to lead the next generation of designers in the 21st century,” nARCHITECTS was founded by Bunge and Mimi Hoang in 1999.

In addition to the Equal Rights Heritage Center, a 696-square-metre complex dedicated to upstate New York’s pioneering role in the civil rights, suffragette and LGBTQ rights movements, the firm’s genre-busting projects include the A/D/O design hub in the Greenpoint neighbourhood of Brooklyn and the redesign of Chicago Navy Pier.

Along with Hoang, Bunge oversees the design and technical development of all projects at nARCHITECTS, which is the subject of a forthcoming book called Buildings and Almost Buildings, an “anti-monograph” that explores the work of the firm as a single project. According to Bunge, the book serves as a “subtle manifesto about the open-ended, incomplete and ambiguous in architecture.”

Presented by AZURE Talks, his keynote at ARCHITECT@WORK is also titled “Buildings and Almost Buildings.” Organized around the themes of the firm’s new book, Bunge will present ongoing work that reflects his practice’s approach to the design of buildings and public spaces for a world in flux.

The architect, who is a native of Montreal, will be speaking at the Enercare Centre, 100 Princes’ Boulevard, at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4. Tickets for the talk are free, although attendees are required to register here using code AZ1700.

This AZURE Talk in partnership with ARCHITECT@WORK is presented by Sistemalux. The lecture qualifies for one ConEd structured learning hour. A certificate will be provided upon request, post-event, by e-mail.
