This week, Toronto/NYC designers George Yabu and Glen Pushelberg are launching six collections, including a bar stool (shown) for the Chinese brand Stellar Works. The new stools are being presented within a major experiential installation conceived by Neri&Hu. On view at Officina 31, via Tortona 31.
Dixon has installed Multiplex, a two-storey exhibition of new products and reimagined classics alongside food and drink, shopping and entertainment, inside the historic Teatro Manzoni cinema (via Manzoni 42). That’s where his new launches, including several lighting collections and a textile series, can be found. You might also catch a glimpse of Dixon 20 minutes away, at Ventura Lambrate, where his Delaktig modular sofa and bed for Ikea will be showcased at the brand’s immersive festival (via Ventura 15).
European brand Sé and Nika Zupanc have been long-time collaborators and prefer to launch their latest offerings at the more intimate environs of Galleria Rosanna Orlandi. The exhibit, entitled Sé Ensemble, will be presented as an apartment with pattern, texture and shape emerging. Zupanc’s dream-like Stay Daybed (pictured) will be part of the big reveal. Besides showcasing his intriguing furniture series, flow, which incorporates round-bottom bowls attached to the legs of tables and chairs, Nendo creative director Oki Sato will likely be spending a lot of his time at Invisible Outlines, on view at the Jil Sanders fashion house. A number of his products will be showcased, including a capsule fashion collection called objectextile. A collaboration between Nendo and Jil Sander’s creative team, objectextile turns five textile patterns into a limited-edition line of shoes, t-shirts and handbags. Nichetto always enjoys a bigger-than-life presence at Salone and Milan Design Week 2017 will be no different, with a dozen product launches set for release with as many brands. At the Fiera, expect to see the Stockholm-based designer at Artifort, Offecct and Coedition, where soft and hard furniture will be showcased. Nichetto will also be at Ventura Centrale (via Ferrante Aporti 9), with his collaboration with Ben Gorham for glassmaker Salviati, and at the Moooi exhibition (via Savona 56), as part of a stellar lineup of big names.
Britain’s Faye Toogood returns to chunky silhouettes with a new lighting collaboration with the New York retailer and manufacturer Matter. Called Puffball, the collection of four lamps and sconces were inspired by the rounded caps and columnar stalks of wild mushrooms (at via Pietro Maroncelli 7). Toogood is also participating in two group exhibitions, including one by Nobody&co that is located in the secluded gardens of Milan’s Giardino delle arti (via Palestro 8). The exhibit promises to be an immersive experience where sculptural pavilions peek through the garden’s undergrowth.
