“Learning by designing” is the protocol at Domus, with intensive workshops bolstered by lectures, field trips and assessments

Overview

Held up as a tool for enriching life, the interaction design taught at Domus Aademy is “about creating a product or space that interacts with the body or the mind through innovative technology.” Studies focus on user experience (including primary research activities), storytelling (developing the narrative around the design to “sell” the design or its need) and prototyping (both digital and physical). Core workshops centred on Experience Design and Tangible Interactions loop in collaborating companies (which have included Cisco, Park Hyatt, Studio Museo Achille Castiglioni, Technogym and Bookrepublic) and reproduce real-world projects. Teamwork is paramount, and multidisciplinary teams are the norm.
